Upon the arrival of a new baby, it is imperative to be prepared in order to provide the necessary attention to the new addition as opposed to worrying about gathering the supplies to properly care for him. Clothing can be less of a worry if taken care of beforehand for the entire first year.

Clothing Essentials

The basics that the baby will need throughout the year include onesies, which are T-shirts that cover the torso and snaps closed at the crotch and socks because shoes may not always fit properly during the first few months. Shoes are, however, crucial to the developmental stage of walking that occurs during the last 3 months of the baby’s first year.

Natural or cotton materials are ideal due to the sensitive nature of infant skin. Comfort is further ensured with stretchable waistband bottoms rather than zippers and extensive buttons.

Warm Months

Shorter sleeved tops and shorts or thin pants keep babies cool during Spring and Summer. To protect from sun exposure, a hat should be purchased to cover the baby’s face.

Cool Months

Staples to ensure warmth throughout the fall and winter months should be an adequate amount of sweaters, a sturdy jacket and a thick bodysuit.
